Consob has published a notice warning of email phishing with fraudulent use of the name of Banca d’Italia and CONSOB.
Consob notes to have received reports of phishing attempts performed by sending emails to banks and financial institutions that appear to have come from the email addresses of prominent figures of Banca d’Italia, some of which contain the name of CONSOB in the subject line. The emails use generic work references with invites to respond to the sender.
In this regard the Commission warns that the sender, the subject or the text of the message unduly refer to Banca d’Italia and/or CONSOB. The episode has been reported to the competent authorities and CONSOB reserves the right to undertake any further actions to protect its image.
