Took my money and went silent

The mobile app from Direct Generations is dangerous. I placed an order that showed as pending, so I placed another. Both executed and I was overexposed. When I complained they said it was user error. The app design is misleading.

Pros: Easy withdrawals|Portfolio tracking tools|Clear documentation

Cons: No fractional shares|Account statements could be more detailed

Duplicate positions after merge

The so-called education at Direct Generations is just marketing. Every webinar ends with a push to deposit more. The market analysis is generic and often wrong. If you want real education go elsewhere. I wasted for about five months thinking they would help me learn.

Pros: Great customer service|Multiple order types|Educational resources|Economic calendar

Cons: Live chat only during business hours

No original thought

Direct Generations seems more interested in acquiring new customers than taking care of existing ones. The marketing is aggressive but the product is mediocre. Once you are past the honeymoon period, the cracks in their service become very apparent.

Pros: Portfolio tracking tools|Full transparency

Cons: Account statements could be more detailed|Currency conversion fee exists

They bet against their clients

Direct Generations offers copy trading. I copied a top trader. The copy trades often executed at worse prices than the original. When I asked why they said it was due to latency and liquidity. So the feature is broken or they are skimming. Either way I stopped using it.

Pros: Multi-device support|Multiple order types|Instant funding|Easy withdrawals

Cons: None so far|Slow to add new assets

Learning experience at my expense

I had a dispute with Direct Generations and went to their complaints process. They have an internal team that just defends the company. Then they said I could go to an ombudsman - but the ombudsman they use is industry-funded and rarely rules for the client. The system is rigged.

Pros: Easy withdrawals|Dividend tracking|API access

Cons: No live chat on mobile|Help articles are sometimes vague

Fraudulent fee structure

I wanted to transfer my portfolio from another broker to Direct Generations. They said they do not accept in-kind transfers for my asset type. I had to sell, withdraw, deposit, and rebuy - incurring taxes and spread costs. They did not tell me this before I signed up.

Pros: Two-factor authentication|Multi-device support|Transparent fees|API access

Cons: Limited social trading features|Desktop app not available on Linux

Headed in the wrong direction

After for over three years with Direct Generations I requested to close my account and withdraw. They said I had to complete a 30-day cooling-off period. Then they said there was a minimum holding period for my last deposit. They make it as hard as possible to leave.

Pros: Quick verification|Easy withdrawals

Cons: Limited social trading features|Could offer more webinars

No sub-accounts

Their two-factor authentication was optional when I joined. I enabled it. Later I lost my phone and could not log in. Direct Generations recovery process took 3 weeks and required notarized documents. By then I had missed important trades. Their security is your inconvenience.

Pros: Portfolio tracking tools|Tax reports included|Intuitive for beginners|Multi-device support

Cons: Cannot customize dashboard fully

Disappointing experience overall

I gave Direct Generations a fair chance. After since I retired last year of usage, I can say with confidence that there are far better options available. The interface is clunky, the fees are higher than competitors, and the customer support team seems overwhelmed or understaffed.

Pros: Transparent fees|Regular platform improvements

Cons: Live chat only during business hours|Email notifications too frequent

Education is just sales pitch

Direct Generations locked my account without warning and demanded documents I had already submitted. for roughly four months later I still do not have access to my funds. Their compliance team does not respond to emails. I am considering legal action.

Pros: Two-factor authentication|Great customer service|API access

Cons: Mobile app could be improved
